Strains is the colloquial term for cultivar that is commonly used in the cannabis industry to describe the different species or subfamilies of cannabis.

‘Strains’ is a colloquial term used to describe different subfamilies within the cannabis plant. Cultivators crossbreed different cannabis plants to amplify or accentuate their characteristics, resulting in ‘strains’ with varying CBD and THC ratios and subsequent effects. For example, Kush Strains are mostly derived from Indica plants, whilst Diesel Haze strains come from the Sativa species.
