PC: Post Cibum

Typically used in prescriptions or prescribing documents, the abbreviation PC comes from the Latin term Post Cibum, meaning after meals.

Certain medications are absorbed into the bloodstream more effectively when there is food in the stomach and gut that is able to absorb them, and so, when these medications are prescribed it is often advised that they are dosed PC - or after meals.
